Founding of the Enfield Tennis Academy: shaving the hilltop, wooing Schtitt, the motto

• When: UNDATED; E.T.A. runs "three pre-Subsidized years and then eight Subsidized years" (per scene 020's YDAU vantage); the third-and-final family home is erected at the grounds' rear "when Mario was nine and Hallie eight and Orin seventeen" (071)
• What: In "the optative retirement from hard science" JOI built and opened a U.S.T.A.-accredited, pedagogically experimental tennis academy on a shaved-flat Enfield hilltop (the balding of which buried part of Enfield Marine's Unit #7, scene 054). He "wooed fiercely" and "just about begged" Gerhardt Schtitt aboard the moment the hilltop was flattened — despite Schtitt's recent forced resignation from a Bollettieri camp "involving a riding crop." JOI hung the founding motto "TE OCCIDERE POSSUNT SED TE EDERE NON POSSUNT NEFAS EST" (later taken down by C.T. and replaced with the upbeat "THE MAN WHO KNOWS HIS LIMITATIONS HAS NONE," scene 026). He installed the optics-and-film lab off the Comm.-Ad. tunnel that outlives him (013, 048), and old associate Lyle "went way back with Dr. Incandenza, the Academy's founder" (039). He cared nothing for administration — "Charles Tavis knows what James Incandenza could not have cared about less: the key to the successful administration of a top-level junior tennis academy" (094) — and would within his last five years cede day-to-day control to C.T. (event 12).
