• What: Fackelmann conceived of converting the ~$250K into ~375 grams of wholesale Dilaudid from a Chinatown dealer (Dr. Wo) — a ~$1.9M street-value drug empire — if he kept quiet and, with Kite, fled far away. The plan was suicidal for a reason he never grasped: Eighties Bill was the son of "Sixties Bob" Monroe, Sorkin's own trusted migraine doctor, so Sorkin was certain to learn of the mix-up; and Bobby C copped from that same Dr. Wo and would hear of a huge Dilaudid buy. Kite, Gately imagines, would have "staggered back in horror," telling Fackelmann he "could smell Fackelmann already biodegrading from here" — "Fackelmann was a Dead Man."
