It took the bradykinetic Mario all night and two bottles of Ajax Plus, with his tiny contractured arms, to scrub the room; the 18's girls next door heard him falling and picking himself up "again and again." The spotless room was locked ever after, with a tasteless sign — except Schtitt holds a special key, and sends any E.T.A. junior who "whinges too loudly about some tennis-connected vicissitude" to "go chill for a bit in the Clipperton Suite," to meditate on ways to succeed besides "votaried self-transcendence and gut-sucking-in and hard daily slogging toward a distant goal you can then maybe, if you get there, live with."
