Later, when the armed Nucks corner Lenz and Gately is drawn into the fight, Charlotte appears with other residents out of Ennet House's back door, milling amid the mops and old furniture on the back porch, watching — reciting the Serenity Prayer over and over. In the ground-level view around the downed Gately her purple plastic shower-thongs are among the feet he sees, and it seems like her voice reporting that Ewell is trying to get into Pat's locked office to phone (the attribution is the text's own hedge — see Dating notes).
