Context
The all-over-nausea analogy she'd worked out with Dr. Garton, now offered to the resident. The clincher is temporal: the feeling's content includes a certainty about all future time — "the rest of your natural life" experienced as already present. Time's depth in depression isn't measured, it's foreclosed.
