Hal's confession walk: thirty days to purge the fat-soluble body
What I do in secret, Boo, Mike says no more than thirty days to get it all out for sure. Cranberry juice, Calli tea, vinegar in water. [...] The Bob Hope I smoke and hide, Boo, it’s fat-soluble. It stays in there, in the body’s fat.
Context
The body as a reservoir that has to be flushed. The plan is "thirty days to get it all out for sure" via "cranberry juice, Calli tea, vinegar in water," because the drug "it's fat-soluble. It stays in there, in the body's fat." The most literal statement of the body-as-machine's memory: what you put in stays lodged in the tissue, and clearing it is a metabolic engineering problem measured in weeks of forced abstinence and diuretics. The flesh keeps its own incriminating archive, and the withdrawal is really a project of draining the body of its stored past before the scan. (The addiction/withdrawal substance itself routes to a-r; landed here is the body-as-chemical-reservoir.)
