Context
Discipline as body-management. The younger players are "punitively remanded below ground in P.M. shifts" for the Eschaton debacle — a distinction drawn by injury-status, the "uninjured" ones sentenced to labor because their bodies are still available for it. The academy metes out punishment the way it metes out drills: in scheduled shifts, as an "unpleasant chore" done with the body, dividing the kids by who's hurt and who can still be put to work. The regimen's disciplinary arm is just another allocation of young bodies to unpleasant tasks.
