the Feral Prodigy script: nothing left to vomit

quote

Here is how to do extra individual drills before the Academy’s A.M. drills, before breakfast [...] so that after you’ve gotten your third and final wind and must vomit, there is little inside to vomit and the spasms pass quickly and an east breeze blows cooler past you and you feel clean and can breathe.

Context

Extra drills before the official dawn drills, run until you "must vomit" — and the veteran's trick is that on an empty pre-breakfast stomach "there is little inside to vomit," so the retching passes fast and leaves you "clean" and able to breathe. The body's breakdown is so routine it has been optimized: you time the exertion to the empty stomach so the inevitable puke is efficient. Vomiting is not the regimen failing but the regimen working, a scheduled cost the prodigy learns to spend cleanly.
