Context
The regimen's cost made specific and clinical: Schacht plays through Crohn's Disease and the gout it somehow spun off, the arthritis "settled in his right knee" and hurting him every match. He is the room's standing proof that the athletic body is also a failing one — a top-64 player carminative-medicated at every meal and hobbled by an inherited gut disease, competing in "terrible pain."
