the sedan inside the gates
H. Steeply’s green sedan with its neuralgiac full-front Nunhagen ad on the side sat in an Authorized Guest parking spot in the E.T.A. lot.
Context
Infiltration accomplished, stated as a parking fact. U.S.O.U.S.'s vehicle sits inside the target compound "in an Authorized Guest parking spot," its garish full-front cigarette ad functioning exactly as camouflage should — a car too loudly commercial to read as a surveillance vehicle, hiding in plain sight behind an Authorized-Guest pass. The montage drops it between a sleeping Gately and a dieting Tavis as though it were just another object in the world, and that flatness is the point: the operation is so far inside E.T.A.'s portcullis that its car has a designated spot.
