Context
The Concavity's toxicity revealed as manufactured, not found: the "TOXIC HORROR" the EPA softballers "stumbled on" was "placed there against statute" by O.N.A.N.'s own crews — trucks bearing "O.N.A.N.'s official crest, a sombreroed eagle with a maple leaf in its mouth." The crest itself is the theme in an emblem: the American eagle in a Mexican hat with Canada in its beak, the continental "alliance" as one predator wearing its partners. The contamination that justifies the gift was the giver's own deliberate act.
