Poutrincourt the prorector: a non-U.S. Québecer at E.T.A.

The theme's resident Québécois presence introduced: "female prorector Thierry Poutrincourt... a non-U.S. citizen, a tall Québecer," who corrects Steeply's Parisian French with a pointed identity-claim — "Me, mine is Québecois." She is the E.T.A. figure through whom the geopolitics enters the school (the "insurgency class" / "Québecathon" of n321, the samizdat-lore of n110), a non-citizen Québecer teaching American juniors the history of "Canadian Unpleasantness" (n304's course-title for her class). Her insistence on Québécois-over-Parisian is the nationalism in miniature — the province's tongue asserted against the metropole's.
