Eschaton on I-Day: a Cold-War reenactment staged on Interdependence Day

The whole political joke of the scene is in the collision of its dateline and its content: on Interdependence Day — the O.N.A.N. holiday that celebrates the dissolution of the sovereign nation-state into a continental bloc — a dozen children stage a "dismissive-reenactment" of the bipolar superpower Cold War that Interdependence supposedly ended. The game's appeal is "a complete disassociation from the realities of the present," nostalgia for a world of AMNAT-vs-SOVWAR sovereignty that the O.N.A.N. era has abolished. The reenactment is the theme in miniature: a polity that has forgotten how it got here plays at the geopolitics it replaced.
