Marathe & Steeply: l'état protecteur vs the shout of "Freedom!" — "The National Socialist Neofascist State of…"

The two political philosophies named against each other: Marathe's "l'état protecteur," the state that guides its citizens' choices, against Steeply's caricature of it as "the National Socialist Neofascist State of Separate Québec," "Cuba with snow." And Marathe's counter-diagnosis of the American ideal — "your walled-up country, always to shout 'Freedom! Freedom!'" — makes the epithet "walled-up" the hinge: the same nation that walls off the Concavity walls its politics inside a single unexamined word.
