Not just the Concavity redemised. Not just secession for Québec. The F.L.Q., maybe they’re like the Bolivians. But Fortier wants us dead.
Context
The A.F.R.'s war aim distinguished from the ordinary Separatist one: not "the Concavity redemised," not "secession for Québec" — those are the F.L.Q.'s bargainable, "Bolivian" goals — but Fortier wanting the U.S. simply dead. Marathe's retort, "You cannot kill what is already dead," pushes the dispute past territory into metaphysics: the fight is no longer over a border but over a nation's already-accomplished spiritual death. The Concavity becomes the occasion, not the object.
