Context
The Reconfiguration encoded in office heraldry, and a quiet cartographic bombshell: Avril's office flies "a maple-leaf flag and a 50-star U.S.A. flag" with "fleur-de-lis pennons" in the corner (her Canada, the old Union, Québec), while "C.T.'s office has an O.N.A.N. flag and a 49-star U.S.A. flag." The 49-star flag possibly registers a state lost to the Reconfiguration — the map redrawn down to the banner, the U.S.A. perhaps short a star where the Concavity was ceded — or is simply two-office character-coding, hung beside the O.N.A.N. flag that supersedes it. The two offices display two allegiances; the number of stars would be the founding's arithmetic, if the coding is territorial.
