Orin phones Hal about Himself's suicide (p. 247)
‘But you can see how it’s all going to get me thinking. How to avoid being forthright about the Stork material unless I know what the really forthright answers would be.’
Context
Hal rattles off the family's entire suppression index in one breath, and Orin states the call's paradoxical engine outright: to keep the memory buried he first has to dig it up. Suppression isn't a failure of memory but a project requiring accurate recall as raw material — you can't curate what you never retrieved.
