Carlisle's reading, recorded not adopted: he argues the Concavity-bite's profile — "an ascending and then descending line" — describes the new border as seen from the north, i.e. from the Canadian side, from Luria's perspective, so the narration of Mario's cabinet scene is itself optically compromised, corroborating Tine's "what Lur—" slip from inside the prose. On this reading the map isn't just displayed in the scene; the scene's own point of view has been captured by the party the map serves.
