Yolanda Willis had very shrewdly left the shoe and spike heel right there protruding from the guy’s map with her toe-prints all over its insides—meaning presumably the shoe’s—so producing the Item was going to be in her strong legal interests too, as well, as Thrust analyzes the legal landscape.
Context
Closing hit of the cluster: the Nuck died of a spike heel through the right eye, so "protruding from the guy's map" pins the idiom precisely to the face — the map is the front of the head, the part with the eyes, the part you navigate a person by. Even Thrust's summary metaphor ("the legal landscape") stays terrain-shaped.
