Dawn drills and the second world (pp. 455–456)

quote

You can see little bits of glitter from broken monitor-glass in the frozen stuff up by the fences behind 6–9, and one or two curved shards of floppy disk, and they’re a troubling sight

Context

Dawn drills, 9 November, the morning after the debacle: the game's smashed apparatus — monitor-glass, floppy-disk shards — literally embedded in the frozen melt along the real courts' fences, Penn absent amid leg-rumors and Lord still wearing his Hitachi monitor. The collapsed map persists as debris in the territory, the visual ground against which Schtitt builds the second-world sermon two entries up in the spine.
