The snowfall makes everything gauzy and terribly clear at the same time, eliminating all visual background so that the map’s action seems stark and surreal. Nobody’s using tennis balls now anymore.
Context
The brawl at full boil, seen from the pavilion: the snow that started the crisis now erases the world around the courts, so only "the map's action" remains — and on it, the warheads themselves have been dropped for fists. The weather that was ruled off the map has visually eliminated everything but the map.
