Midnight in Hal and Mario's room, Mario asking whether the Moms got happier after Himself died. His evidence includes her staying home now — and his artlessly flattened list of what she used to travel for is the Militant Grammarians' whole public program seen from a child's-eye distance: the corporate-grammar crusades (the Less→Fewer and IT'S campaigns of n.110/n.234) and the library-protest fight (scene 068's phaseout battle) reduced to "this and that thing." Avril's activism as household weather.
