Irony turned into a weapon against the critics who made him ironic. The Found Drama series — recurring across the filmography, always "conceptual, conceptually unfilmable, UNRELEASED" — is (per scene 078) an elaborate hoax conceived in sincere drunken despair at being called unentertaining, built to punish the cognoscenti by giving them literally nothing to watch and daring them to find profundity in it anyway. It weaponizes the critical establishment's own irony: the more unfilmable the "work," the more the après-garde must pretend to perceive something, and the joke is on an irony that can never admit it sees nothing. JOI's irony here is aggression, aimed precisely at the audience of clever seers whose approval he both courted and despised — the ironist attacking the mirror.
