Endnote 67: the figurant cops
A couple of the Enfield Marine Public Health Hospital Security officers know E.T.A.’s Hal Incandenza from having met his brother Mario when James O. Incandenza had hired the officers as lineless figurant background-extra cops for both Dial C for Concupiscence and Three Cheers for Cause and Effect.
Context
The literal word, at last: "lineless figurant background-extra cops," in JOI's own hiring practice, tucked into the endnote off scene 054's Enfield Marine tour. The chain's one piece of actual figurant-diction before the wraith's doctrine speech — attached, fittingly, to real E.M. guys who spend their nights narrating The Shed's warehoused catatonics to Hal, the boy who once predicted the catatonic hero.
