And whatever happens to the protagonist with the name you hit with the dart for like the next hour and a half is the Drama. […] I think he especially liked the idea that the star of the show might have already moved away or recently died and there was no way to know.

Orin, interviewed by "Helen" Steeply, explaining JOI's Found Drama hoax: a dart thrown at a phone-book page picks a protagonist nobody will ever watch, record, or hear — and what Himself especially liked was that the star might already be dead. The figurant doctrine in embryo: JOI's aesthetics rehearsing wraith-hood, the unseen dead subject, years before he became one.
