Stice's bed and Lyle on objects (pp. 394–395)
Do not underestimate objects! Lyle says he finds it impossible to overstress this: do not underestimate objects. […] Do not underestimate objects, he advises Stice. Do not leave objects out of account. The world, after all, which is radically old, is made up mostly of objects.
Context
Lyle's answer to the moving bed — delivered with complete engagement, which for Lyle is itself a tell — is the closest the book ever comes to giving Stice a straight answer: the phenomena are real, and they run through objects. Given Lyle was Himself's confidant, the guru may know exactly whose work the bed is. The dictum reads as the wraith arc's operating manual, a half-thousand pages early.
