The temperature had fallen with the sun. […] Only one or two remaining tips of the digitate spikes of the radial blades of the sun found crevices between the Tortolitas’ peaks and probed at the roof of the sky. 30 April YDAU, dusk on the outcropping above Tucson: a one-paragraph interstitial in the Marathe/Steeply serial with no information exchanged and not one lens word in it. The film-optics claim here is all staging — our digest reads the cut as pure cinematography (light sources, color temperature going violet, the narrator filming the watchers), and Carlisle's micro-reading makes it the section's own medium question: its brevity holds the day-to-night boundary-shift in stasis "like a photograph, although the change itself is more like a moving picture." His reading, recorded not adopted; the quoted text is the scenery itself.
