The scene-side anchor of the catalogued Light & halation sighting: Guillaume DuPlessis dies "under cold fluorescent kitchen lights," and the phrase is where the raw hangs endnote 20 (marker stripped from the quote per convention). The sighting text proper — n.20's gloss that fluorescence has been banned in Québec, making his residence down here selfless — lives in endnote n020 and is quoted at its own n020 entry; this is Carlisle's catalogue entry (C). Within this raw the narration returns to the lighting once more at the recovery of the body ("unbound from the coldly lit chair," pp. 59-60): the fluorescence brackets the death.
