Context
The screen's catch, inside the E.T.A. tunnel-geography excursus: JOI's optics and film-development labs persist as physical plant, mapped in passing as infrastructure the way the laundry room and Pump Room are. The founder's whole working apparatus is now a "former" facility you reach by knuckle-dragging tunnel — the optics career gone subterranean under the tennis academy that replaced it. Note the doubled death-marking, "the late Dr. James O. Incandenza (now deceased)," quoted as written. The same facilities are revisited at pp. 666-669 (screen target 129).
