The Petropulator was Petropolis Kahn. I was thinking of the final film-lecture in Good-Looking Men in Small Clever Rooms… and then of C.T.’s misadventure at Himself’s funeral.
Context
Hal flat on the V.R.5 shag, a week into the post-hiatus unraveling, and where his mind goes when it drifts: to a specific stretch of a specific Himself film (the climactic lecture he'll cue up at scene's end), and from there straight to the funeral. Filmography and mourning are already one circuit before any cartridge is loaded — reviewing Himself's work is how this narrator does grief. The film's full title is given later in the scene; here it's already worn short, a thing he thinks about often enough to abbreviate.
