Context
Hal, performing for the grief-therapist, states his private theory of the last work: the final edit "turned out so bad he didn't want it released." Set this against p. 228, where Jim told Joelle the thing was so entertaining it had broken his heart — Carlisle's misprision ledger flags the two accounts as flatly incompatible, and neither brother knows it. The filmography's biggest question, answered wrongly by the person who found the body.
