Hal went to the towel again. The children along the bottom tier were leaning left and then right in tandem, amusing themselves. The apparition with the lens and metal pole was gone, overhead.
Context
The screen's hit phrase, dropped flat at the end of a changeover paragraph in Steeply's POV: something "with the lens and metal pole" had been overhead, and now isn't, and the narration calls it an apparition and moves on. The raw never identifies it; the plan places this as the lens-bearing apparition at the first courtside wraith-physics scene — this is the match where Hal's sure-fair pass "veered out, an abrupt tight curve out of bounds as if some freak gust came out of nowhere" (pp. 679-680; ghosts-wraiths territory, left there). Cross-ref for assembly: roster scene 125 has Mario filming this same match from the transom perch — read together, Steeply's "apparition" is the filming rig registered by a spectator with no context for it, the camera itself gone spectral. Same raw, pp. 681-682: Poutrincourt relaying Schtitt on the Founder as "a student of types of sight" — uncatalogued, flagged below.
