Context
Year of the Whopper lore, told during the YDAU gala: newly-sanctioned-#1 Eric Clipperton has come to E.T.A. gunless and wrecked, and Himself takes him and Mario up to an unused Subdorm C room for counsel — but only after imposing the condition that changes everything, a camera. Bureaucratic cover is the stated reason, and the result is that Mario's head-clamped Bolex is running when Clipperton produces the Glock: the suicide becomes an accidental documentary, the darkest item in the Incandenza production history (n.160 later has the recording interred with JOI's body). The camera as legal prophylaxis, recording as condition of care.
