Context
The broadcast rendered as invisible light — tuners phototropic toward a signal they can't see — with E.T.A.'s hilltop sitting dead in the beam. The transmission geometry explains, physically, why Mario can worship this show from Enfield: the Incandenza hill is optically coupled to Joelle before anyone knows the two households share a history.
