Context
The triangulation in one sentence. Joelle belonged to the son as lover and to the father as "optical beloved" — the muse he filmed, "the prodigious punter's father, infinite jester," whose trust fund she now lives on. The dyad angle is the same one scenes 150 and 068 work: the father entered the son's life only through the son's girlfriend, and ended up closer to her than the son ever was, the film-bond outlasting the romance. That the raw names the father "infinite jester" — the book's own title turned onto Himself — quietly marks him as the dead center everyone in these pages orbits.
