DMZ show-and-tell — "who resembles him the way creatures…"

The sibling bond and the sibling difference in one taxonomic image. Watching Schacht's exhibition in the raw cold, "Hal's posture subtly but warmly inclined ever so slightly toward his tiny older brother" Mario — a small, unforced tenderness — and the narration measures the two brothers' kinship in classification terms: they resemble each other "the way creatures of the same Order but not the same Family might resemble one another." It is the phenotype paragraph (034) rephrased as warmth: Mario is close kin and categorically apart at once, the brother Hal leans toward precisely across the gap that makes him "not the same Family." The family written on bodies, read here not as sorting but as love — Hal's slight warm incline toward the sibling the taxonomy sets outside his own branch.
