Joelle's interview about the Entertainment — "If it got made and nobody’s…"
If it got made and nobody’s seen it, the Master, it’s in there with him. Buried.
Context
The artifact's final disposition, guessed by the one who'd know: the Master cartridge is in the grave, "in there with him," buried with JOI in the annulation-zone — which, as Joelle notes with grim relish, means "where he's buried is itself buried, now," lost in the toxic no-territory the map won't own. The deadliest object in the world has been interred with its maker in a zone that doesn't officially exist, so that retrieving it requires a Continental-Emergency exhumation of exactly the kind Gately dreams (175). The Entertainment ends as a thing consigned to the earth with the dead entertainer, its lethal perfection sealed underground; the theme's weapon is also, finally, a corpse's grave-good, and the joke JOI didn't live to appreciate is that his hiding place hid itself.
