Disability performed on top of disability: the genuine legless body embellished with manufactured pathos — the crawling pace, the hunch, the hand made to tremble. And the first sounding of the note scene 151 will hold: the staff receive the veil "without faze," the non-solicitous reception Fortier's doctrine predicted and Marathe finds significant enough to log.
