Kate Gompert is totally by herself at a nonsmoking table over by a window, ignoring her pale reflection and making little cardboard tents out of her raffle tickets and moving them around.
Context
The raffle-break panorama's quietest figure: while the whole hall bonds and interfaces, Kate sits alone doing the null, joyless activity of a person on a Suicidality Contract passing time — "ignoring her pale reflection" against the black glass is as economical a picture of anhedonic self-remove as the book has.
