Context
The theme's saddest geometry in one listener: the broadcaster transmits a beauty she cannot perceive in herself, and the one person who fully receives it, and who alone might tell her she'd feel better if she could hear her own show, cannot bring himself to try. The signal runs one way only. Contact is complete in the receiving and impossible in the return, so that the most devoted connection in the book is also entirely unspoken, a love beamed at a voice that will never know it landed.
