controlling glee as terminal symptom

quote

He was in total control of this situation. And they did not even know there was a situation.

Context

The paranoia of the cocaine crest flipped all the way over into omnipotence: certain he is the master surveillant of a situation his victims don't know exists, he rewards himself with a skip of pure controlling glee. The last clause quietly cancels the whole thing — his "invisible" adrenaline is plainly on display, the omnipotence as legible to the street as the wide berth it earns him.
