A depressing new sober club in Somerville's Davis Square where mostly young recovering addicts dress up and dance stiffly, trembling with unmedicated "sober sexual anxiety" (p. 1045) and nursing Cokes while telling each other how great sobriety is. "The smiles alone in these places are excruciating to see." (p. 1045)
