Endnote 106 — Who gets a cartridge-viewer, and what it can't do

Each subdorm floor has a Viewing Room, but only juniors and seniors may keep personal cartridge-viewers in their rooms — a concession won largely by Troeltsch pestering Tavis while pretending to broadcast on "the flames of controversy surrounding individual rights" (p. 1004). None of the viewers can run cards for InterLace broadcasts or ROM games, whose "stuporous passivity" (p. 1004) the academy now considers hostile to everything the students are there to learn.
