• What: Long before the terminal cartridge, "Infinite Jest" was JOI's serial white whale: Infinite Jest (I) his "unfinished and unseen first attempt at commercial entertainment," (II) an unseen remake of it, (III) an unseen remake of I and II, (IV) an "unfinished, unseen attempt at completion of Infinite Jest (III)" carrying a queried "Madame Psychosis"(?) credit. The dream of an entertaining film ran, and failed, across his whole career — the arc that only (V?) is said to have finally landed. (The title also recurs as Cage V—Infinite Jim, "Unfinished.
