• What: The oeuvre opens with film about light itself and about tennis-and-fusion commerce. Cage, Kinds of Light (4,444 frames of differently-sourced light off an unpolished tin plate), Dark Logics, and the industrial/advertorial slate (Tennis, Everyone?, Annular Fusion Is Our Friend and its sequel infomercial for Sunstrand Power & Light, the box-tennis documentary Flux in a Box) — the optician making films that are, at root, demonstrations of his own optical and annular expertise. The strand persists into Subsidized Time as holography: The Machine in the Ghost: Annular Holography for Fun and Prophet (an unreleased nontechnical introduction to annular zone-plating holography) and the liquid-surface scale-model No Troy (Y.W.; aliased The Violet City / The Violet Ex-City by different archivists — see Dating notes). The filmography's compiler flags the archival mess these create: multiple corporate-name changes, no dating, several works in production at once, and "high-conceptual projects" that "required that they be titled and subjected to critique but never filmed."
