Aftermath: the flesh on the window, the toilet-paper face, "something out of Zorro"

• What: The detached forehead leaves aftermath all over E.T.A.: Freer reports "a human strip of forehead-flesh" on the hall window with "two eyebrows, and bits of nose"; McKenna says Stice looks "like a piece of cheese pizza where somebody tore the cheese off," and Troeltsch is charging "two bucks a look." Coming out of the infirmary Stice is seen "wearing something out of Zorro"; his ripped face, patched by Troeltsch and Kenkle with a whole roll of toilet tissue that then stuck, is now covered in mummifying paper, and deLint yells at him for it at breakfast, sending Stice to lock himself, sulking, in his room beneath his ceiling-bolted bed. Through the morning Hal — himself floor-bound and panicky — keeps meaning to go check on The Darkness, who "had asked whether I believed in ghosts" and "had promised something boggling to look at." Stice is last glimpsed in the pre-Fundraiser locker room, filling a grip-pouch with fuller's earth and blowing a purple bubble, before the whole gala is bused to M.I.T. as the storm buries the courts.
