• What: Ruth van Cleve — "the Creature," street-hardened and implacable — gives chase, and the two sprint up Prospect on their toes, high-heeled, Poor Tony holding the two purses "like a football." He tries the old Harvard-Square trick of also yelling for help to fuddle bystanders, sacrifices the boa, breaks a heel on a pivot, bleeds from his toes ("post-seizure, infirm, not to mention Withdrawn"), and cuts west into the dumpster-lined parking alley behind the Antitois. He escapes by rolling a steel waste-barrel to trip Ruth up (confirmed from Lenz's simultaneous alley-robbery in scene 148 — the two crimes overlap the same alley network). His actual arrival at the Antitoi door is left off the page; the flight ends here.
