• What: Fresh off the N.N.Y.C. high-speed rail, Notkin is intercepted in her lock-dickied co-op and interrogated by U.S.O.U.S. technical interviewers (R. Tine Jr. and one other) under a high-watt lamp trained on her exposed face. She spills everything she believes she knows about Joelle, JOI, and the Entertainment. This is the single richest — and least reliable — source in the novel for the Joelle / JOI / Avril lore: every item below is second- or third-hand (Notkin has most of it only from Joelle, and Joelle in turn performed in but never saw the finished film).
