• What: Joelle recalls JOI's "damaged grinning boy" (Mario) — whom she never got to know because Orin disliked him — often carrying the case with the lenses, "grinning like somebody squinting into bright light"; the child actor Smothergill would contort his face at Mario and Mario would just laugh, sending Smothergill into tantrums.
