Resistance (Marathe's A.F.R. milieu) — is bound and gagged in his Brookline home by the drug-addict burglar Don Gately, who cannot understand DuPlessis's grippe-thick Québecois French, and suffocates over two days. Marathe is not present; his whole YDAU operation keys to this death, since DuPlessis's copy of the Entertainment (and his source for it) become the A.F.R.'s quarry.
